Well so far, we’ve learnt that Fi is a little bit saucy, a little bit cheeky but a whole heap of fun and love. But I still had a couple more ‘getting to know Fiona’ questions to ask.
So Fi, tell me what’s your favourite part of the day and why?
“Oh that’s easy! It’s 9pm bedtime. I love to relax with a bit of ‘woowoo’ music and a good book. It gives me the opportunity to relax, process the day’s events and release any stresses. It also sets me up for a good morning the next day. I love my bed, and it loves me.”
I have to agree with Fi there. I love my bed!
What’s the longest project you’ve ever worked on?
“Through lockdown I challenged myself with a kitchen cabinet makeover. Oh, my goodness! I really didn’t take onboard exactly how much of a challenge it was going to be. After spending days doing all the planning and preparation, I was ready to start painting. I gave it 3 coats of paint and 2 coats of wax but then I didn’t like the finish! Determined and undefeated I decided to sand it down again and started all over. That cabinet had another 3 coats of paint but this time I gave it 2 coats of varnish, and I even did inside the doors. It was a labour of love for sure. It took me nearly a month to complete but it looks amazing and I’m totally in love with it.
I’ve seen your pictures of the cabinet and it is truly wonderful. Well done Fi, you should be very proud of yourself for that.
Like me Fi, you must not give yourself enough time to just sit and relax.
I know you’re always happily busy doing something but if there was only one movie that you were allowed to watch repeatedly and never get bored of what would it be?
“Oh Sue, can I have two please? Please?”
*Cue puppy-dog eyes from Fi 👀 and a smiling eye-roll from me 🙄 *
Go on then Fi, you can have two.
“Okay, so Dirty Dancing is my all-time favourite. I mean, who doesn’t imagine themselves falling in love with Patrick Swayze and dancing on a log over a babbling brook? And of course, Nobody puts FiFi in a corner. Ahh I go all squishy just thinking about it. And, like most people who love the film, I know the words to all the songs. I may, if given enough encouragement, sing a song or few on the Curious Creatives Craft Retreat.
Then there’s Mamma Mia. I cannot help but smile and sing and even dance a little to the music in this film. Well, it is Abba! The love story, the characters, the setting, the costumes… I just adore it all. Ooooh Sue! Could we have a musical movie night on the Crafty Retreat? Go on, you know you want to!” *Both of us laugh*
Okay Fi, anything is possible.
So Fi, I’ve got one last question for you.
If you were given £10,000,000 (TEN MILLION pounds) to spend in 48hrs what would you do with it?
“Only 48hrs to spend it? That’s it, I’m not allowed to save any or invest it, and I MUST spend it all? Right then, I’d give one million each to my kids. Enough to get them set up and living comfortably but not too much that they become lazy or greedy – not that they would anyway. I’d then book a two week break at The Log H
ouse in Ambleside for us all. It’s a gorgeous, quirky, family run place in the countryside and they serve the most delicious food.
Then I’d share and donate the remaining money between the Royal British Legion, Police & Fire Service Benevolent, and a couple of health charities that I regularly support.” Oh Fi, you are a beautiful angel! 🥰 Well there we go folks, that is our lovely Fiona Potter. She’s motivated, driven, full of love and gratitude and clearly adores her family and friends. She’s an awesome teacher, full of so much knowledge and always sharing.
